Christopher Lowman Spring/Summer 2019

Triumphantly titled The Glorious Olympics, Lowman’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection takes inspiration from the 1980’s Summer Olympics. Fusing street style with luxury fabrics in bold colors and patterns, The Glorious Olympics revamps looks from the official Olympics opening ceremonies of that decade, re-imagining it for the modern age by merging sophisticated, clean lines and silhouettes with a touch of edge and featuring lambskin leathers mixed with neoprene, mixed media cow hides, golden tricot nylons, pullovers, and tracksuits all in unique shapes and textures.

Introducing Maxine & Jimmie

Maxine & Jimmie Los Angeles is a thoughtfully curated collection of timeless accessories celebrating the women who inspire our style.

Maxine Henry, mother of 4 and wife to the incomparable Morris Henry, was a women of flair and style. My cousins would tell me stories of how my grandfather would drive her across the country from Springfield Ohio to California so that she could shop the Neiman Marcus catalog in person. Can you say FABULOUS?!?!

She instilled excellence in all her children and was proud of their accomplishments. Always a beacon of Biblical teaching, Maxine was known to share the Gospel with anyone who graced her presence. With conviction and vigor she encouraged people to have faith in God, discover their purpose and to embrace change in their lives.

Born to a bi-racial parent, hailing from Guntersville, AL, she was the epitome of strength, perseverance and zeal. Her experiences made her tough, but her faith enabled her to touch the hearts and minds of many.

Her style and fashion artifacts are unmatched. From mink stoles and leather swing coats, to luxurious hats and vintage chiffon dresses. My favorite piece from her closet that I was given is a fur muff that is both absolutely stunning and absolutely over the top for this California weather.

Albeit, not only did she impact my style aesthetic, she impacted my persona of strength and courage and most importantly a steadfast faith.

Whether playing in makeup or doing her hair, we shared unforgettable special moments that fundamentally shaped my style, femininity and the essence of who I would become.

This I do in dedication of her memory.

Balmain For Beyoncé

Whelp, since you all loved the Coachella performance so much, Beyoncé collaborated with Parisian powerhouse Balmain to bring you...the.. Same.. Looks... A bit of a snoozefest for me because I hoped for something new and original, but to my dismay, the collection includes the same designs as her ground-breaking performance.

The beauty of the collection, however, is the philanthropy tied to it. Balmain X Beyoncé, based on key Olivier Rousteing designs for Beyoncé’s iconic Coachella weekends, riffs on the signature varsity styles and legacy of America’s 37 historically black colleges and universities. Proceeds from the collection, fittingly, will be used to help fund the impressive work of UNCF, which helps thousands of students attend college, thrive, graduate and become tomorrow’s leaders.

The collection ranges from $295 - $895, available for purchase online at Balmain, Net-a-porter, Barneys, The Webster, Harrods and My Theresa.
